TriForcer Spotlight: Anne-Marie

Almost one year ago today, Anne-Marie strolled into our gym, worried that she wouldn’t make it through the class because she was too out-of-shape.

 

Though we had our doubts of her comments. Every exercise she performed with phenomenal form and grace, making it look almost too easy.

 

Then we learned why:

 

J'ai fait du ballet pendant plus de 20 ans. C'était mon loisir et mon sport. J'ai été prof de ballet auprès de jeunes enfants pendant 7 ans. C'était ma job d'étudiante. J'ai dansé à deux reprises dans la grande production Casse-Noisette des Grands ballets canadiens. J'ai dansé les rôles du monton noir et d'une matriochka.

 

A world-class ballerina! That would explain the textbook posture, powerful jumps and strong endurance (not to mention perfectly pointed toes!). No matter how long ago it was, an elite athlete never truly loses their form.

 

Even with Anne-Marie’s #Rockstar first class and ballet fitness, this kind of strength training was still new to her:

 

Depuis que j'ai arrêté le ballet (il y a environ 10 ans), je cherchais une activité physique que j'aime. J'ai essayé beaucoup de choses: la danse aérobique, le step, le zumba, le cardio-boxe, l'aquaforme, la natation, le pilates, le yoga, le vélo, le jogging... Je n'ai jamais réussi à être vraiment assidue à aucune de ces activités. Avec Triforce, c'est la première fois que je suis vraiment motivée et assidue.

 

However, the “newness” of the training did NOT deter her; in fact, she jumped in head first! Anne-Marie has ALWAYS been up for an extra challenge. Adding a jump here, a few weights there, feet up here--- it’s so much fun finding a new twist on an exercise to throw at her.

 

And despite a demanding job and family (with a super cute future TriForcer, we might add), Anne-Marie has managed to find the time to come at least 3 times a week*.

 

*Fun fact: when her boys are gone on a “boys’ trip”, she celebrates having the house to herself by coming EVERYDAY—sometimes twice a day with our Breakfast Club before work and evening class right after!

 

Now that’s commitment.

 

It’s no wonder that Anne-Marie has made massive gains in just one year. Amongst her progress, one of her favourite highlights is:

 

Des push-ups! Je n'avais jamais fait de push-ups de toute ma vie avant Triforce! On m'a toujours inculqué que les push-ups c'étaient juste pour les gars! Maintenant je sais que ce n'est absolument pas vrai! Je suis maintenant capable de faire plus de 30 push-ups!
